The Student Progression Team programme aims to place current university students in a number of schools and colleges across the Coventry and Warwickshire region. The scheme is designed to support school pupils at key decision points with the aim of encouraging their progression to Higher Education.

The Student Progression Team is supported by ambassadors who act as mentors to a small group of Year 9 and 10 pupils, providing encouragement and support as they move through Secondary School. The programme aims to break down barriers to learning, inspire goal setting and provide information to support pupils with the potential to progress to Higher Education.

This programme is not subject-specific and is aimed at focusing young people to think about their futures and their career goals can be achieved.

Sessions run by Student Progression Team Ambassadors can include:

• Day in the Life of a University Student
• Goal Setting
• Introduction to Higher Education
• Study Skills and Managing your Exams
• Next Steps

Each school or college hosts two Student Progression Team Ambassadors and each student will work with the same group of eight young people for a six to eight weeks period before the Easter holidays. This is then followed by a Campus Visit Day for all 16 pupils from the same school.
