Who can apply?

Warwick Sutton Scholars works with schools within the West Midlands.

To be eligible for a place on the programme students must meet several academic and social criteria. The criteria is as follows:

Academic criteria - students must meet several of these:


o Students recognised as gifted and talented or highly able by their school
o Students whose end of primary Key Stage 2 sub level test results in Maths, Reading and Writing demonstrated high ability (level5 or above)
o Students who have the potential to achieve five or more A*s and As at GCSE
o Students who receive a strong academic reference from their teachers

Social criteria - students must meet several of these:


o Students who are eligible for free school meals/Pupil Premium/Service Premium/or equivalent
o Students who have no parental or immediate family history of Higher Education (older siblings accepted)
o Students who are currently, or have been looked after by the local authority for more than 3 months
o Students who live in neighbourhoods where few people go to university (assessed by home postcode)
o Students who have other circumstances that need to be considered
