Pre-University Summer School course studied: A Taste of Economics and Finance in 2024

What encouraged you to choose to join the Warwick Summer School?

I was looking for an English summer school on the internet that would be able to teach me the basics of economics on a good level to see if I wanted to study economics at University. The activities, the program and subjects of the lectures of the Warwick Summer School seemed really good to me.

What skills and knowledge did you gained during the 10 days that you have found most beneficial?

The main skill that I developed during the 10 days was without a doubt the ability to present a project with confidence in front of a larger group of people. I had the chance to do this during our group project. This will definitely be useful in my future professional career. I also developed my social skills, to approach different people and become friends with them.

Did you build any new friendships during your time on the summer school?

Yes, I have made some new friends and met new people that came from pretty much everywhere across the globe.

What was your highlight of taking part in Warwick Summer School?

The most interesting experience for me was when we had the chance to attend a presentation from Krisi Smith about her tea company Bird and Blend.

However, I think the most memorable parts of the Summer school were all the activities with my new friends, like visiting London, playing football in the evening or just having fun conversations with my flatmates in the kitchen in the evening.

What advice would you give to future students participating in the Warwick Summer School to get the most out of the programme?

One of the most important parts for me was to meet new people, build new friendships and have some great memories. I would recommend spending the most possible time with people that you would not have the chance to meet in your everyday life (friends from South Korea, China, Lebanon…)

However do not forget why you’re originally here for. Listen very carefully to every lecture and do your best in the group project as this experience is unique and you may not have the chance to have this kind of perspective of this kind of University again.
