Student Christmas Message
Dear all,
As Christmas is approaching, many of us are looking forward to a well-earned break and a festive chance to recharge and see our friends and loved ones.
While Christmas can be a wonderful time of year, it also has a large environmental impact. The good news is that there are many simple ways that you can help to reduce this impact - check out our Christmas tips to find out more.
Leaving campus:
If you have any food left, please donate it to Coventry Foodbank via the drop off point in Rootes Grocery Store. If you are moving out of halls and not returning this academic year, please see if your flatmates could use your items. If not, clothes & accessories can go into the British Heart Foundation collection banks (red containers by halls of residences) and kitchenware can be rehomed through the Energy and Sustainability Team (email us at sustainability@warwick.ac.uk).
If you can, please travel home sustainably, e.g. opting for trains or coaches rather than driving or flying.
New Year:
You could make a sustainable New Year’s resolution for 2025, such as aiming to use more sustainable forms of transport, saying no to fast fashion, or venturing out for more walks to engage with nature.
You could try eating more vegan/vegetarian meals for the month of January (or even take part in Veganuary). Making a conscious effort to consume less meat/dairy and only purchase sustainably sourced products with high animal welfare standards is important in reducing your impact on the planet.
The new Warwick Green Rewards web platform and app is a great way to start making small sustainable changes to behaviour. Keep your eyes peeled for the New Year Resolution challenge, where 4 x £25 vouchers will be up for grabs!

Wishing everyone a very happy festive period!
Kind regards,
