- Export as iCalendar
Location: TBC

Are you interested in the intersections between data, the environment and justice? Are you curious about game design? If you are interested in joining, please send a message to Siddharth.De-Souza@warwick.ac.ukEmellyne.Forman@warwick.ac.uk, and Feng.Mao@warwick.ac.uk.

About the workshop

A small group of students and staff (upto 12) will be brought together for a day long workshop on 27th February (10-4 pm) at the Institute of Advanced Study to design a concrete game to explain the environmental costs of data centres. Through guided sessions around world building, game play, and user experience design, participants will work together to build one prototype for a game. The game is intended to be a resource for activists, scholars, practitioners who are interested in the interplay of data and the environment.

Previous work

Our previous workshop titled "'Game On for Climate Policy: Building Critical Literacy Resources on Data Centres’ Environmental Impact" (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/law/research/projects/nefdef/climatefinance/wcgpn/game/Link opens in a new window) sought to increase awareness of the environmental consequences of data centres, through interdisciplinary expert opinions followed by an introductory game design workshop. The workshop included participation from staff, students, and the gaming community at Leamington Spa.

This workshop aims to build on those conversations and create a resource that can be shared and used widely.
