Endangered crayfish move into ‘5-star hotel’ on Warwick campus
The University of Warwick is rolling out the red – or rather green – carpet for the UK’s only native freshwater crayfish species. Thirty white-clawed crayfish have just moved into a specially prepared ‘5-star hotel’ on campus, where they’ll be safe from invasive species and provided with everything they need to thrive.

Earlier this year we discovered the presence of harvest mice on campus. On Sunday 12th October, we undertook the first ever harvest mouse nest survey on campus.
The Big Butterfly Count results are out!
The Big Butterfly CountLink opens in a new window is Butterfly Conservation's UK-wide citizen science initiative and the world's largest butterfly survey. This year it took place between 18th July and 10th August, and we celebrated it by holding our own surveys and introductory walks for those wanting to learn more about butterflies.

Each day the Energy and Sustainability team checks and analyses energy and water data from thousands of meters we have on campus, tackling inefficiencies and spotting potential issues early. These efforts have led to reduced carbon emissions and costs from electricity, heating and water.
