Winter 2015

We welcomed over 5,000 people to our Winter Family Weekend on Sat 28 & Sun 29 Nov 2015.

The two fun-filled days were packed with family entertainment, arts, sport activities and delicious food.

Visitors were encouraged to begin their journey by meandering through Warwick Arts Centre in search of free workshops, designed to equip them with all they needed for a successful expedition around our Family Weekend.

Along the way they discovered our programme of family theatre, including a modern take on a classic tale in Puss in Boots by Lyngo Theatre, and Bootworks’ The Many Doors of Frank Feelbad. The Family Weekend also saw the opening of the first of our Christmas shows, The Gruffalo’s Child – “the fun, daft and a little scary.” (Time Out)

Visitors took a trip upstairs to the Mead Gallery where a sculpture exhibition awaited their arrival, and where they could make their own piece of art in the Creative Space.

They found a map and travelled over to the Sports Centre where there was lots of activities to enjoy, including Christmas themed Zumba sessions and the opportunity to reach dizzying heights on the climbing wall! Roaming street magician-jesters dazzled them with their tricks, and they met snakes and lizards in Wild Creatures.

They sang their heart out in our Frozen Singalong, which was back in the cinema by popular demand, and took a well-earned rest in Café Bar. There was plenty of food and drink available throughout the day to ensure they weren’t left hungry as they took a journey through the programme. Some tried the delicious Middle Eastern food in Le Gusta and scrumptious treats from the food market. There was also the chance to enjoy a spot of Christmas shopping at our craft market.
