Join us on the Arts Centre Outside Area for a colourful procession of Dhol drummers and dancers in vibrant costumes to launch the day’s events
This event is part of Lok Virsa, presented by Sonia Sabri Company - a one-day arts festival or ‘mela’ of arts activities and pop-up performances for all the family. Lok Virsa simply means ‘heritage of the people’ and is perfect for everyone of all ages from different cultures and backgrounds.

Interactive Storytelling Performance
Using storytelling dance, music, mime, spoken word and glorious fabrics, children and their adults are invited to join the artists in the retelling of a fun old fable.

Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas
Join Santa as he awakes from a dream of sun, sea and sand only to find it is the busiest day of the year: Christmas Eve. Watch as he prepares his Christmas deliveries, feeds his reindeer and finally takes flight into the snowy night.

Nikky Smedley: Storyteller
Come and snuggle round Nikky’s gigantic, beautiful, amazing Storytelling Skirt. Hear who springs from Jamie’s monster tree, meet Incapability Brown, the greatest inventorentorator in the world and learn how Tom copes with everyone forgetting his birthday. It’s a visual and vocal treat, with plenty of opportunity for the children to join in and help with the stories.
