Summer 2015

Our Summer Family Day took place on Sunday 31 May 2015.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet the characters who travelled around the world in 80 days and zoom off in the incredible storytelling Submercycle. There was a galaxy of crazy workshops – where you could create a new planet in a craft session, or even a whole constellation of colourful blobs with action painting. The friendly secret agents from the Union of Human Pollinators taught families how to waggle-dance like the best bee they could be, and there was plenty of clowning around in acrobat workshops and performances. With a Creature Hunt, the Nature Trail and lots more free activities, families were busy all day!

Along the Riverbank, a fantastic retelling of Wind in the Willows with live music and puppetry, and The Boy Who Bit Picasso, the story of a young boy who became friends with one of the greatest artists who ever lived, were on stage in our theatres – and Paddington, a beautiful and hilarious live action take on the beloved children’s classic, in our cinema.

There was also plenty of food and drink available in the Café Bar and Le Gusta restaurant. At the Sports Centre there was family swimming, face painting, giant puzzles, a dragon assault course, climbing and much more.

We thought Family Day was fantastic, but don’t just take our word for it – read Stratford School Gate’s review here.
