Remembering Hiroshima

August 6th, 1945, was the day that the USA dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, doing the same in Nagasaki only three days later. In Hiroshima, the immediate death toll following the blast was around 70,000 people, but by December 1945 approximately 140,000 people had died.

This year marks the 78th anniversary of the bombing, and in Coventry there will be the annual Hiroshima Day event to commemorate it. This year, the 2023 Hiroshima Remembrance Service will be held in Coventry Cathedral 2-3pm on 6th August. Full details are available via this event flyer; it is free to sign up to, and will also be livestreamed.

This short 'Remembering Hiroshima' information leaflet offers a summary of the events, a look at the ongoing impact on survivors of the bombing, and links to further information.
