Learn to code (1/3) - building mobile apps with Thunkable

About this session

Date: Wednesday 19th February 2025, 12.15-12.45 (FAB Media Symposium Space)

Presenters: Dr Robert O'Toole

Main follow-up contact: Robert O'Toole

Overview: Using Thunkable you can build an app for iPhone, iPad, and Android - with no previous knowledge of programming and no coding. Design interfaces visually, add logic using a simple Scratch-style visual tool, test on your own device. This is a great way to begin learning the four fundamental elements of all software design: user interfaces (UX), program logic, data, and networking. In this session we use Thunkable to learn some essential concepts and practices for software design and development. Although publishing Thunkable apps to the app stores is expensive, it is a fun way to learn coding, and apps can be shared with others through the Thunkable app without publishing on the store. We are investigating the possibility of getting a license to allow us to publish.
