Podcasting Your Research

About this session

Date: 31st May 2023

Presenters: Luke Robert MasonLink opens in a new window

Main follow-up contact: Robert O'Toole

Overview: In this session Luke describes his own personal journey into podcasting in support of his research and impact activities (started as an undergraduate). Luke has been involved with new media and innovative ways of doing research for many years, including leading the Virtual FuturesLink opens in a new window organisation (with conferences and a wide variety of online activities). Listen to his Futures PodcastLink opens in a new window for great examples of how the medium can be used.

Key points: Podcasting isn't just about disseminating ideas from research, it can also be a great way to develop fresh ideas with a community that can spread globally; new podcasting platforms make it easy to record, even with remote participants, publish, publicise, and monetise; listen to a wide range of podcasts and experiment with different styles to see what fits for you; podcast with a colleague to share the work; develop a workflow with hardware and software that suits you.
