Classical Rhetoric in the Contemporary World
Lecture, Lunch, and Q&A by the Network for the Interface of Classics and Politics (University of Liverpool)
Speaker: Dr Andrew S. Crines
How can antiquity help us navigate the contemporary political world? – Particularly in such a volatile and explosive time like the present. Can an understanding of classical rhetoric devices and beliefs about effective communications assist us as we try to untangle the political rhetoric used today? Using the Anglosphere as a case-study, this lecture, held by Dr. Andrew S. Crines from the University of Liverpool, provides stimulating and interdisciplinary perspectives on the role of classical rhetoric in the contemporary world.
Students and academics from all departments are welcome. Lunch and coffee will be provided. No registration necessary, just come along!
