Freshblood New Writing: Annotations by Isaac Frost

18.45-19.00

In a series of four interspersed narratives, Isaac Frost's 'Annotations' imagines scenes in the lives of a number of historical figures - including poet Siegfried Sassoon, composer Camille Saint-Saens, and mathematician Isaac Newton - in a world in which their queerness is not preceded with a question mark. Its narrators form a constant presence in the telling of their stories, building the world in their own words, and questioning where, and in who, we should be allowed to see ourselves.

Niamh and Ruthie

13.30-14.00

Hi I’m Niamh and I am a first year Modern Languages student studying French and Spanish. Although I am not directly involved in the Arts for my degree I still absolutely love to perform and am heavily involved in both the musical theatre and a cappella society at the University. I have so many favourite musicals that I can’t even begin to list them all ranging from ‘Book of Mormon’ to ‘Hamilton’. I can’t tell you how excited Ruthie and I are to have been given the opportunity to perform for you all in the opening of this beautiful building.

I’m Ruthie & I am a first year student studying English & Theatre Studies. My love for theatre lies with my passion for Musical Theatre. My favourite musical of all time is Les Miserablé! I am passionate about literature & poetry, especially its relation to adaptions for the stage. I am looking forward to exploring this next year in my module, adapting Shakespeare.

Warwick University Drama Society (WUDS)

14.40-15.00

Warwick University Drama Society (WUDS) is an award winning society devoted to producing excellence in student theatre, that always has at least one play in production. Our focus lies with published plays, actively encouraging students to take works by everyone from Shakespeare to Sarah Kane and do exactly what they want with them. Whether it be a fresh and original re-interpretation of your favourite play or just a convincing performance of a classic piece, WUDS is there to help your ideas become reality.

WUDS will be sharing excerpts written by Ukrainian playwrights which were created after the start of full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The extracts are commissioned by a grant from Philip Arnoult's Center for International Theater Development (U.S.) and are distributed in the frames of the Worldwide reading project. Join and support Ukraine with WUDS on Agora Stage on Friday.
