GSD Representation within Warwick SU

Did you know that we have both former and current students representing GSD in our own Student Union?

Warwick SU is an on-campus organisation that represents the student voice by working closely with the dedicated Staff Team and the Board of Trustees to ensure that everything we do is in the best interests of the student community.

These views and best interests are represented by elected officers, and we are proud to have two of our GSD students currently in post:

Read on to find out more about our GSD SU Officers:

Naomi Carter

Headshot of Naomi

Vice President for Welfare & Campaigns

Naomi is a GSD alumna who graduated in July 2024. During her undergraduate degree she worked at the SU as the Women’s Officer and published a paper with the Reinvention Journal titled "Period Pain: Student Perceptions of the Ongoing Stigma Surrounding Menstruation at the University of Warwick and Potential Interventions to Counter Such Stigma".

As the Vice President for Welfare & Campaigns, her responsibilities include:

  • Running campaigns on issues that students care about
  • Helping motivate and empower students so that they feel part of something bigger at Warwick
  • Mobilising student power to improve social justice.
“As VP Welfare & Campaigns, I am responsible for connecting to students about issues that concern them and their welfare and advocating for those with Union and University staff. I am so excited to see what campaigns I can get involved in and how I can improve student experience on campus!”

Raj Hacker

Headshot of Raj

Environment and Ethics Officer

Raj is a second-year GSD student whose role involves ensuring that both the SU and the university continue to adhere to practices and policies that are both environmentally friendly and ethically responsible.

“I hope to get a plastic-free Pop and a waste-free campus while also starting campaigns to raise awareness about the BP archives which are currently on the university campus.”
