SCFS celebrates Winter Graduation 2026 with first PhD graduate and OSCA Winner

In January, SCFS celebrated the Winter graduation of our GSD MASc students, in addition to several of our GSD and Liberal Arts undergraduates and our first ever PhD graduate.

The graduation ceremony took place at Butterworth Hall on the main Warwick campus and was followed by a food and drinks reception in the lobby of Ramphal, a location where our School predominantly resides and has become all too familiar for our graduates during their degree studies.

Students that graduated included GSD and Liberal Arts undergraduates, GSD MASc students and our first ever GSD PhD graduate Grace Kamanga, who joined Warwick in 2021 after receiving the Chancellor's International Scholarship to undertake her PhD. Her research, which focused on women's empowerment in ecotourism in Malawi, was jointly supervised by Dr Marta Guerriero, Professor Stéphanie Panichelli-Batalla and Dr Jessica Savage, and marks the first of many complete doctorate research projects under our GSD department.

The reception also included a special SCFS award giving ceremony for our GSD MASc students, recognising graduates who achieved outstanding results during their studies. R.G. Harcourt was crowned winner for the highest dissertation mark in our Community, Engagement, and Belonging MASc, whereas the award winners for our 2026 GSD MASc cohort included:

  • Highest Overall Mark – Hannah Micuta
  • Dissertation Highest Mark – Sonam Tshering
  • Workplace Project Highest Mark – Yutao Zhou
  • Consultancy Project Highest Mark – Tom Roebuck

Additionally, during the graduation ceremony, one of our BASc GSD graduates, Hiya Gandhi, was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Student Contribution Award (OSCA) prize in recognition of her contribution to inclusion, sustainability and entrepreneurship at the University of Warwick and beyond.

Many congratulations to all our graduates! We look forward to witnessing your journeys following university and hope to see you again on campus in the future.
