Congratulations on your offer!

The Sustainable Development Goals

Welcome to the online GSD offer holder space and congratulations on receiving your offer to study GSD! This page should help answer your questions about starting at Warwick and what GSD is all about.

So, what's GSD like? Well, when you start at Warwick there are several core modules that everyone in GSD takes, so you'll get to meet the whole cohort. In your first year, every GSD student takes modules on the Social, Economic and Environmental Principles of GSD, as well as a group research project. Throughout the course, there are opportunities to explore all 17 of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals through your module choices and individual study.

One of the special things about GSD is that everyone's doing a slightly different course, either through studying a joint honours degree or just by the modules they have selected. In this way, you get to mix with and learn from your peers with a variety of expertise, which makes the whole learning process more exciting!

The GSD Department attracts students from across the world and from very different backgrounds - by just talking to the person sitting next to you, you could learn about an entirely different culture.

If you are at all concerned about the prospect of meeting new people, there are plenty of GSD-related societies that you can join. Already, five societies have originated from GSD, including the GSD Society, Warwick International Development Society, Warwick SEED (Socio-Economic Engagement and Development), Climate Reality and GLOBUS Warwick (an online student magazine). There are also societies for a whole range of other activities, interests and sports.

GSD is a close-knit course, so you'll soon get to know other students and staff, which is great for academic support and wellbeing.
