After APP TE: What next?
Support and influence others
The Warwick International Higher Education Academy is the UK's first institutional academy of educators for staff and students engaged in the advancement of learning and teaching excellence.
The Academy is actively involved in governance, development initiatives, networks and think tanks that set the tone and develop the direction of learning and teaching at Warwick; as well as hosting and delivering a range of events, activities and funding opportunities.
APP EXP Mentorship and Assessorship
APP EXP is an assessment-only pathway to AdvanceHE accreditation. Now that you have Fellowship (D2), you are eligible to mentor applicants working towards their own Associate Fellowship (D1) or Fellowship (D2); and to assess applications. APP EXP Mentorship and Assessorship can support your own later applications for promotion, as a form of Collegiality, Management and Leadership.
"Focus On" is a series of standalone CPD workshops and associated online resources, which are co-created by academic developers and teaching staff. They are concise and thematically focused on areas of concern for teachers. If you have an idea for a Focus On session, or are interested in co-hosting a workshop in your department or co-designing a new workshop, get in touch with us using the link above.
The Warwick Education Conference is a significant annual event providing space for all members of our Warwick education community to connect, share and inspire each other.
The conference usually takes place in June, with a call for papers in the Spring.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) aims to understand how students learn effectively and how teaching influences this process. SoTL encourages us to ask questions about the influence and effectiveness of our teaching on our students’ learning and gain evidence to draw informed conclusions to act upon and share with others.
ADC has resources to help you explore the range of ways that you can take a scholarly and evidence-informed approach to your teaching and learning practices, including getting involved in SoTL communities and conducting your own SoTL inquiries.

PGA Curriculum Development in Higher Education
PGA CDHE is a blended 30-credit level 7 programme open to teaching staff who are Warwick module and/or programme convenors. Its main aim is to offer staff opportunities to support student success through development of expertise in fit-for-purpose theory and evidence-informed curriculum design. The course is project-based and adaptable to participants' needs, interests and experience.
PGA DE provides a theoretical understanding of current debates, challenges and opportunities in digital education from a technological, human and educational perspective. It is designed to provide an essential theoretical foundation for technological innovation. Participants will be encouraged to explore and interrogate their own relationship with the digital and how it intersects with their role in supporting teaching and learning, based on their own experience.
The University puts in place a number of mechanisms to support the initial and ongoing development of individual teaching practice. One such mechanism commonly recognised in UK higher education is the observation of teaching practice by peers in order to inform a member of staff’s own reflection and enhancement.
The Peer Dialogue on Teaching processes offer a framework within which significant conversations can take place framed by privacy and trust.
If you teach or support learning, our Focus On series invites you to pause and reflect on your practice—what you do and why you do it. Each unit offers a short introduction and practical activities for individual or group reflection, helping you teach with greater intentionality and responsiveness.

APP EXP: Senior Fellowship (D3)
APP EXP is an assessment-only pathway to AdvanceHE accreditation at all levels. Senior Fellowship is for colleagues who support, lead or influence other teaching staff.
Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence
The Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) celebrate outstanding teaching that transforms student learning and embodies Warwick’s values of creativity, inclusion, and collaboration. Established in the early 2000s, WATE recognises staff, postgraduate researchers who teach, and teams who create inspiring and inclusive learning experiences.
A long-standing and much-loved part of Warwick’s teaching culture, WATE is a living celebration of the dedication, creativity, and impact of those who make a real difference to students and colleagues alike. The awards recognise that excellence in teaching and learning grows from a deep understanding of — and commitment to — our distinctive disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts.
Keep in touch
APP TE Alumni Community
Your involvement with the APP TE community doesn't have to end when you complete the programme.
You retain access to the online resources on the Moodle page, and access to the Teams space. Through the Alumni Teams channel, you will get occasional notifications about projects and opportunities you can get involved in, and community events such as the APP TE Pedagogy Reading Group.
You are welcome and encouraged to keep in touch with the programme team. If you have things you want to discuss, aspects of your teaching you want to evaluate or enhance, or if you have projects you would like us to be involved with, please get in touch. As well as supporting you as an individual, we are happy to work with your colleagues on a module teaching team, or at departmental level (subject to capacity).
