AI Horizons: Developing a Digital Skills Pathway For Students through the Warwick Award

Project Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way learning is delivered and experienced. In an era defined by rapid technological change, developing AI literacy is no longer optional, it’s essential. Digital upskilling empowers students to engage with AI critically, confidently, and creatively.

This initiative helps leaners understand AI not just as a technical tool, but as a force shaping society, ethics, and the future of work. By bridging theory and practice, it prepares students to navigate digital transformation with insight, integrity, and impact, equipping them to apply AI meaningfully in their academic, professional, and civic lives.

Project Aims

The objectives of this project are:

  • Co-Creation with Students: Developed in collaboration with students, the project offers an inclusive and engaging learning experience tailored to Warwick’s diverse community. It serves as an entry point for all students, regardless of study level or prior experience.
  • Systematic Classification by Discipline: Designed with differentiated pathways for STEM and non-STEM students, supporting targeted, role-relevant skill development across disciplines.
  • Alignment with Global Standards: Contents are mapped to Jisc Discovery Tool competencies and aligned with the UNESCO AI Competency Framework. Each Jisc topic builds essential digital skills, while UNESCO domains guide progression from foundational to advanced AI literacy.
  • Curated Learning Resources: The pathway integrates quality materials from leading providers, including LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Learning, ensuring access to recognised, industry-relevant content.
