Inclusive STEM Assessments from across the sector
Led by Sam Grierson (EPQ) and supported through funding from both WIHEA and the Inclusive Education Programme, over the last two years, key members of WIHEA’s Inclusive STEM Assessments Learning Circle (open subgroup) have been exploring inclusive assessment in STEM disciplines, with a view to identifying sector-wide evidence, issues, and effective practices.
Their final report presents the voices of students and staff and finds common ground between them. It also offers an assessment typology, in-depth student and staff reflections, and recommendations at an institutional, department, academic and student level.
The group’s vision and mission for this work are outlined on the Inclusive STEM Assessment webpage, where you can now also download the final report. Individual sections of the report are accessible via links on the same page.
The group invite your thoughts and comments on the findings and recommendations and are also asking for contributions to the ‘Showcase’, which they hope will evolve into a vibrant community resource. If you or your colleagues have feedback and/or examples of inclusive assessment practice that you would like featured, please get in touch with Sam Grierson, Claire Rocks or Martyn Parker – their contact details are available via both of the links above.
