Engaging in pedagogic journal reviewing represents an important step in the journey toward pedagogic leadership. Through their critical engagement with manuscripts, reviewers actively shape the discourse of pedagogic scholarship, ensuring reliability, validity, rigour and quality of work that is contributing to the development of the professional field. This session will explore the impact reviewers make to the wider pedagogic scholarly community and support you in considering your potential to make an impact in this way. It will provide a framework through which to articulate journal reviewing as a pedagogic leadership activity. Additionally, we will examine the pedagogic journal landscape, allowing you to explore the range and breadth of publications that you may support as a reviewer and consider which may align to your pedagogic interests and expertise.

Led by Kerry Dobbins, Associate Professor (ADC), this session will also explore the significant benefits that reviewing offers for our own academic endeavours. As well as providing opportunities to remain current with emerging evidence and practices, reviewing actively engages us with the criteria that underpin high-quality journal articles, enabling us to apply these insights to our own scholarly writing. Ultimately, this session will highlight reviewing as a central, strategic activity that advances both individual scholarship and collective pedagogic leadership.
