Welcome back to a new academic year (quite possibly the oddest one yet)!

For those of you who joined us this year, we want to introduce you to VAMOS, our reading group focussed on Visualisation, Analytics, Mapping, Openness and Social. We meet roughly every other week to discuss papers, blog posts, podcast episodes, short films, or to critique datasets, visualisations etc. This is what we’ve been up to so far. We are open for suggestions.

For the time being, our relaxed hangouts in the Pink Room have morphed into Virtual Academic Meetings On the Sofa (on Microsoft Teams). Fear not, our posters haven’t gone anywhere…you will just receive them in your inbox instead of seeing them on the CIM corridor for now.

To start off this new academic year, we will be discussing How Data Science Workers Work with Data: Discovery, Capture, Curation, Design, Creation (Muller et al, 2019). The session will take place on Thursday, October 29^th, 4-5:30pm. Please join us on Teams using this link.
