Summer Graduation Congratulations
Eight of our Complexity students were awarded their research degrees at the recent graduation ceremony: Neil Jenkins, Ellen Webborn, Rob Eyre, Liz Buckingham-Jeffery, Janis Klaise (pictured left to right), Jen Jackson, Stamatios Katsikas and Joel Nicholls. Congratulations to all of them and our very best wishes for the future!
Winter Graduation 2018
Congratulations to our third MathSys cohort who graduated from their Masters programme on the of 17th January 2018. The Winter Graduation Ceremony also saw Gwilym Enstone, Edward Hill and Diana Khoromskaia awarded their PhDs. In addition to the official University proceedings, there was also a congratulatory lunch celebration in the Centre where family, friends and staff joined the students in celebrating their success.

Our second-year PhD student Tim Pollington is currently in India for four months as part of the Newton Bhabha PhD Placement Programme delivered by the British Council.
Complexity Summer Graduation
Congratulations to our new PhD graduates: Dr Tom Rafferty, Dr Michael Maitland, Dr Peter Dawson, Dr Bernd Taschler, Dr Federico Botta and Dr Yuri Lifanov! Most of them have started work either as postdocs or in the commercial sector and we wish them all the best in their careers!
Congratulations to Sami Al-Izzi on his success at BAMC!
Congratulations to Sami Al-Izzi for winning the runner-up prize for his poster on osmotic instabilities and organelle biogenesis, which he presented at the British Applied Mathematics Colloquium hosted by the University of Surrey.
Winter Graduation 2017
Congratulations to our second MathSys cohort who graduated from their Masters programme on 20th January. Dario Papavassiliou and Leigh Robinson were awarded their PhDs, and the last cohort of Erasmus Mundus Masters in Complex Systems Science students were awarded their degrees from both Warwick and our partner institutions: Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and Gothenburg and Chalmers Universities in Gothenburg. Many students came over from various parts of the world: Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Kazakhstan and Rwanda, to be at the ceremony. In addition to the official University proceeding, there was also a congratulatory lunch celebration in the Centre where family and friends joined the students in celebrating their success.
First MathSys Masters graduates and Complexity Graduation
Congratulations to our first MathSys cohort who graduated from their Masters programme. Standards were high: eleven received distinctions and three were awarded a merit. Daniel Sprague and Davide Michieletto were awarded their PhDs and the 2013-15 Erasmus Mundus Masters in Complex Systems Science students were awarded their degrees from both Warwick and our partner institutions: Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and Gothenburg and Chalmers Universities in Gothenburg. Several students came over from Europe and one student even flew from South Africa to be at the ceremony and lunch celebration in the Centre. Many family and friends joined the students in celebrating their success.
Funding For New Mathsys CDT Won!
We are pleased to announce that the recent bid for funding for a new Centre for Docotral Training in Mathematics of Real-World Systems has been successful. The Centre will be funded by the EPSRC, BBSRC, and will also be able to boast strong connections and in some cases additional funding from external collaborators. The first students to join the Centre will start on its 1+3 MSc+PhD Programme in September 2014. EPSRC Doctoral Prizes: Samuel Brand and Mikolaj Sierzega
Two Warwick PhD students, Samuel Brand (Complexity Centre) and Mikolaj Sierzega (Mathematics) have won EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowships for 2012–13.
Samuel Brand, whose thesis is titled “Spatial and Stochastic Epidemics: Theory, Simulation and Control” will work on “New Mathematical Methods for Optimal Control of Epidemics” with Michael Tildesley.
Mikolaj Sierzega, whose thesis is titled “Topics in the theory of semilinear heat equations” will work on “Classical solutions to semilinear parabolic equations” with Jose Rodrigo.
