Late Talker Workshop 2021

We are pleased to announce our online two half-day workshop on “Late talkers: Interdisciplinary approaches to understand early language delay”, hosted by the University of Warwick, on the 23rd and 24th of August 2021, from 13:45 - 17:30 BST. The conference will take place virtually on the Zoom platform. The link will be provided to registered attendees closer to the date.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from different disciplines interested in language development in late talkers. The workshop offers an opportunity to learn about the recent approaches used from different fields to understand the underlying mechanism influencing early language delay. Some examples are works conducted in the area of network science and computational science.

Virtual Poster Session: Call for Poster Abstracts

We also invite abstract submissions for posters from researchers who would like to present their research in a friendly environment. Priority will be given to postgraduate students (Master’s & PhD) and junior postdoctoral researchers (normally within two years of their PhD), but researchers at all levels are welcome to submit an abstract. Topics may include (but are not limited to) word learning, language intervention, memory, language processing and gestures. We welcome behavioural, observational, computational, and neuroscientific findings from researchers working in any field.

Upon acceptance, presenters must upload a PDF of their poster to the workshop website, along with an audio/video walkthrough of their poster presentation (no longer than 5 minutes), which will act as a guided presentation for attendees to view or listen to while viewing the poster. We invite poster abstracts of no more than 250 words (excluding references). If you wish to present your poster at the Late Talker Workshop, please submit your abstract here.

The Best Poster Presentation Award

We are pleased to announce that we will give The Best Poster Presentation Award to the most outstanding poster presented by a participant who has registered under the student category. The prize will be a £50 Amazon voucher. The audience of the workshop will have the opportunity to rate each poster presentation, which will count toward the creation of a shortlist of candidates.

Fees

There will be no attendance fee.
