Part-time student web developer

The deadline for proposing an interdisciplinary module (to be hosted by IATL) for the 2014-15 academic year is 24^th January 2013.

To be held July 28th to 1st August 2014; deadline for abstract submissions is 15th January 2014. IATL's Jonathan Heron is on the Organising Committee.

Conference to be held Mon 14^th and Tue 15^th April (arrival Sun 13^th) at The University of Nottingham. Registration currently open; closes Monday 17^th March.

A collaboration between FellSwoop and the IATL Student Ensemble, Warwick University

FellSwoop, an associate international company of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre, and graduates of Warwick University, start their new project with the IATL Student Ensemble in Spring Term 2014.

This project aims to work with a group of students, recruited from a variety of departments and faculties, interested in collaborative work and interdisciplinary art forms.

We will be looking for individuals wishing to use their academic perspectives to participate in our project and create a unique hub of exchange, discussion and creative activities around the subject of utopia.

Together, we will explore and respond to the socio-political theories and philosophies of counter-cultural movements and dissidence; question long-accepted social constructs, habits and deeply embedded expectations about the way we conduct our lives and the positive and negative implications of an alternative.

The exploration will take place over a six-week period during the Spring Term in the Humanities Studio, culminating in a performance event. Whilst we are looking for students who would have an interest in performing, there are also roles for academic and other creative involvement around this event.

We will be holding a preliminary meeting in the Humanities Studio from 2-6pm on Friday 17 January 2014, where we will begin by discussing the project and its themes, and this will then be followed up with a workshop. IATL are looking to recruit a current Warwick student or recent graduate to work as our enterprise 'Incubator Manager'. The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic about student enterprise and will be required to pull together information from a number of sources, enabling them to provide students and staff who have questions about student enterprise, with any information they might need.

This position will be paid at a rate of £10.63 per hour and the working hours will be from 17:00-19:30, Monday to Thursday (10 hours per week) during the spring and summer terms of 2014.

IATL is looking for four Student Research Assistants who are enthusiastic about contributing to the Widening Participation (WP) agenda at the University. You will be required to research relevant background reading, develop interview questions, organise and facilitate focus groups, transcribe interviews and analyse and report findings in order to establish an understanding and awareness of issues faced by students from diverse backgrounds. In order to ensure our systems and processes here at Warwick are accessible to all, you will identify potential best practices across departments which could be beneficial to meet the different needs of our diverse student body going forward.

Each Research Assistant will be employed for 40 hours’ work, between December and April, at the rate of £10.63 per hour. The work is flexible and can be organised to suit your schedule. Although you will be required to attend a few meetings on campus, work can be done remotely.

You will be an undergraduate student with an understanding of diversity issues in a University setting, an interest in improving the student experience academically and socially and the ability to liaise with other students well. Some experience of social research (conducting interviews, focus groups, etc.) is desirable and knowledge of such methods essential.
