Support Student Research
Supporting Student Researchers
Students are an integral part of the University of Warwick’s research community, and key contributors to institutional, national, and international research cultures. At Warwick, we are committed to ensuring that all students can take advantage of research engagement opportunities – to stretch themselves intellectually beyond the bounds of their degree curriculum, challenge their critical abilities, and pursue the projects that are most meaningful to them.
Many types of research that students will be involved with at Warwick will require supervision and therefore expansion of access to and involvement with independent research will require additional members of staff who are able to supervise this research. Supervising student research can also come with its own challenges (and opportunities!) and may require different skill sets, new styles of mentoring and a new approach to research itself.
Support the Supporter
IATL’s Support the SupporterLink opens in a new window resource has been built to support supervisors of student research and is designed to allow those who are interested in getting involved learn more or fill gaps in their knowledge in a way that complements their own previous experience.
With thanks to WIHEA for their funding of this project, led by Emma Barker (IATL) and Jane Bryan (Law) with student co-leads Chloe Hutchinson (SCAPVC) Emily Nicholson (SCAPVC) and Yi Ting Loo (Maths).

These schemes provide undergraduates with exciting opportunities to pursue their passion projects outside their degree!
Promote Presentation and Dissemination Opportunities
Supporting student research is sometimes about encouraging your students to take the plunge and share their work. Promote presentation and dissemination opportunities like ICURLink opens in a new window, BCURLink opens in a new window, and ReinventionLink opens in a new window to help your students celebrate their achievements and find an audience!
