This Student as Producer (Performance) project updates the military institution which frames the Othello narrative and instead - looking at modern day racism within the police force - places it into an environment reminiscent of Scotland-Yard. The court environment is similarly updated, to the home of the political socialite, where Desdemona wields her charm and feminine power to create a class of political elite. The foreign threat presented in Shakespeare's text of the Turks in Cyprus will be shifted to depict an internal civil unrest. Ultimately, this project aims to explore the black experience within all institutions.

Final performances will be held in the Humanities Studio on Friday 17, Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 June 2016.
