About the Project

The hijab is the headscarf worn by Muslim women that is a symbol of religious identity. This essay discusses whether or not World Hijab Day, an annual event held on February 1st in over 140 countries, is an 'ironic hypocritical farce' given that wearing one is mandatory for many Muslims.
