Giulia Champion: Early Career Teaching Fellow

Giulia has completed a PhD in English and Comparative Literary Studies and Hispanic Studies.

Giulia's doctoral thesis considered how the acceleration and exacerbation of climate change on the American and African continents can be traced through the history of colonialism and imperialism, by focusing on extraction as a way to connect slavery, plantation agriculture and neo-liberal practices of extractivism. Giulia is now working on further developing ideas that emerged during her doctoral research on trans-disciplinary approaches to climate change communication, material histories and energy humanities. Her teaching practice focuses on inter-/trans-disciplinary approaches, student-centred peer-learning and green education.
