Dr Jose Angel Ortiz Gonzalez is a Senior Research Fellow within the Power Electronics Applications and Technology in Energy Research (PEATER) group at the University of Warwick. He has a  BEng degree in Electrical Engineering in 2009 from the University of Vigo and the PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Warwick in 2017.

Jose gave support to the researchers of the Applied Power Electronics Technology Research Group (APET) in Vigo from 2009 to 2012, in the projects New power electronics conversion and digital control techniques applied to FACTS and  Multilevel multiphase power electronics conversion techniques applied to AC drives and renewable energy.  Since 2013 Jose has been working in the PEATER group in different EPSRC and TSB funded research projects: High Temperature Converters -Fast track to increasing the speed of adoption of electronic powertrain, Predictive reliability modelling and characterisation of Silicon Carbide power MOS transistors in grid-connected voltage source converters, Underpinning Power Electronics  - Components Theme and  Challenges in High Temperature, High Reliability and High Power Density Press-Pack SiC.

Jose is a researcher co-investigator in the EPSRC funded Centre for Power Electronics project Reliability, Condition Monitoring and Health Management Technologies for WBG Power Modules. His current research includes the electrothermal characterisation of SiC and GaN power devices and its implications on reliability and health monitoring. He has published 12 journal papers and several conference papers on these topics.

He is a member of the IEEE, the IEEE Power Electronics Society and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.

Research interests:
Power Electronics, Power Semiconductors, Reliability and health monitoring
