New paper in Canadian Geotechnical Journal
The paper entitled "Stability analysis of heterogeneous infinite slopes under rainfall-infiltration by means of an improved Green-Ampt model" by Shui-Hua Jiang, Xian Liu, Derek Ma and Mohammad Rezania has been accepted for publication in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2023.
New review paper in the Journal of Building Engineering
The paper entitled "Mechanical anisotropy, rheology and carbon footprint of 3D printable concrete: A review" by Chaofan Wang, Bing Chen, Thanh Liem Vo and Mohammad Rezania has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Building Engineering. The paper presents a state-of-the-art review on the rheology of 3D printed concrete and the effect of fabric anisotopy on the product behaviour. The work was conducted in collaboration with fellow scientists at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) of China, thanks to a SJTU-Warwick Joint Seed Fund award.
New paper in Géotechnique
Wonderful news that the paper entitled "Non-stationary anisotropy-dependent critical state for clays" has been accepted for publication in Géotechnique (the world's premier journal in geotechnics). The paper is based on a revolutionary development by Hesam Dejaloud and Mohammad Rezania in collaboration with Nasser Khalili (Scientia Professor and Head, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering UNSW). In this paper a novel anisotropic clay constitutive modelling framework, named AA3-NCSL, is proposed with an original concept in clay plasticity where the critical state is considered as a function of the soil’s fabric anisotropy. The proposed framework provides a significant step change in clay plasticity modelling compared to the existing anisotropic clay models, the most well-known being SANICLAY model and its extensions.
2023 MINRESCUE Symposium
The MINRESCUE Symposium was held during 15-16 June 2023 at Główny Instytut Górnictwa (GIG) presenting the work done by different collaborators within the MINRESCUE project consortium during the past 2+ years, in particular results of studies on physical & mineralogical characteristics of CMW geomaterials at GIG & University of Exeter; their mechanical & geotechnical behaviour at University of Warwick, SYSTRA Subterra & Poltegor-Instytut; CMWG recycled concrete and mortars at Politecnico di Milano, University of Cergy-Pontoise & University of Warwick; and of course LCA of upcycling CMWGs in construction materials by BRGM. It was a great opportunity to interact with colleagues & friends, as well as external engineers & researchers to disseminate the project results and our vision for their realisation, also to plan for future collaborations. Thanks to Dr Aleksander Wrana and his team at GIG for excellent organization of this two-day hybrid Symposium in Katowice, Poland.
