Aims and Objectives

AimsLogo M

  • Research the past uses of intelligent systems.
  • Develop a systems approach to modelling the food supply chain.
  • Research how to interpret soft data and categorise it for use in an intelligent system.
  • Develop an understanding of how to work with intelligent systems.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of academic departments at Warwick University to determine the type of data available, what it represents, how it is perceived and how it can be categorised for use in an intelligent system. The departments include; Engineering, Warwick HRI, Sociology, Politics and International Studies, Centre for Applied Linguistics and WBS
  • To develop new work in the area of Food Security modelling using Intelligent Systems.
  • Develop an understanding of the interaction of data within the system and determine its limits.
  • Implement a range of scenarios on the model to determine the relationships between the input and output assessed to determine where the risks lie in the food supply chain, providing support for decision makers on how to ensure food security is maintained at an appropriate level.
  • To ensure future funding for any further research.

Objectives

  • To produce a feasibility report on the potential for developing novel Food Security modelling using Intelligent Systems (ISs) techniques,
  • Produce a poster demonstrating the project progress.
  • Prepare a presentation that can be given to all participants and collaborators detailing the system design and the results of the project as well as giving guidance for areas of further research.
  • Compile a Report containing the findings of the project with respect to the aims. This will consists of a general, technical and business report.
  • Meet requirements of current and possible future funding bodies by producing a draft application for funding to allow further work on the project and to produce a draft journal paper.
