SJTU Warwick Seed Fund Project updates

During the week commencing February 26th, a delegation from the University of Warwick, i.e., Dr Davide Piaggio and Mr Pedro Checa (from the School of Engineering) and Dr Lyla Latif (from the School of Law) made their way to Shanghai, China, for a SJTU-Warwick Joint Seed Fund Project on health data, regulations, and security.

The team was invited to take part to a conference co-hosted by SJTU, Warwick, and Duan Duan Law Firm. This event was a great opportunity to liaise with international colleagues and to network.

Dr Davide Piaggio presented an overview of the legal framework behind medical devices in Europe and the UK, Mr Pedro Checa Rifa gave a presentation regarding the sustainability of the medical device industry, Dr Lyla Latif spoke about digital health regulations, and Prof Sharifah Sekalalah joined online to present an overview of regulatory trends in digital health globally.

The team was also invited to give lectures at the students of the SJTU. This was a great opportunity to interact with the local students on the matter mentioned above.

This event will be followed by a local workshop at Warwick that will take place at the end of June. A delegation from Shanghai will take part to the event.
