Funding Success: Warwick Industrial Fellowship

Assistant Professor Davide Piaggio from the ABSPIE Lab (U. Of Warwick) and CTO Giacomo Pratesi from Paperbox Health were awarded a Warwick Industrial Fellowship to fund a PhD project (3.5 years) aimed at improving the screening and diagnosis of learning disorders in kids.

The proposed project aims to design, develop and implement a novel health technology solution to improve patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency in paediatric neurology, developed under multistep certification strategy.

Specifically, the project will focus on the design and testing of a Class II medical device (according to EU 2017/745) for the screening of neurodevelopmental disorders for kids in the 5-7 years old range, starting from the current Learning Disorders' solution of Paperbox Health ''DINO''. The system will incorporate intelligent features such as automated risk classification index, personalised dosing instructions, and real-time monitoring of medication adherence for monitoring and treatment.

Overall, this project represents an exciting opportunity to develop and validate a cutting-edge health technology solution that has the potential to disrupt current standards of care in this field. This is well aligned not only with Warwick intensive collaboration in biomedical research with industry, but also with the GRP research goals, in particular that of Innovative solutions for Health 5.0, adding personalisation to the Health 4.0 digitalisation, and with the United Nations sustainable development goals 3 (good health and wellbeing) and 4 (quality education).
