Active capillary waves: can bacteria wrestle with surface tension?
In the world of microswimmers, such as motile bacteria or spermatozoa, surface tension is a formidable force. This is, possibly, the reason why few mechanisms of activity-driven capillary waves have been studied theoretically and experimentally. In this talk I will argue that this task is not hopeless and present a new type of activity-induced interfacial instability.
