Innovative Training Networks (ITNs)
ITNs support joint research training and/or doctoral programmes for Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) (doctoral candidates), implemented by European partnerships of universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations. They can take the form of collaborative European Training Networks (ETN), European Industrial Doctorates (EID) or European Joint Doctorates (EJD). Usually, at least three participants (at least two for EIDs) from different Member States or Associated Countries join together to propose a coherent programme for an ITN.
- Award Duration: Successful proposals are funded for up to 4 years. Support provided by the networks to ESRs may be from 3 to 36 months.
- Funding Available: The EU will pay a defined contribution for the ESRs salary, networking and training costs. Minimum salary for ESRs is €37,320 per annum (pro-rata for shorter periods of time).

Marie Curie Individual Fellowships (IFs)
Supports Experienced Researchers (those holding a doctoral degree or at least 4 years research experience) in undertaking a project of their choosing. Fellowships are either European Fellowships or Global Fellowships. European Fellowships are held in EU Member States or Associated Countries and are open to researchers either coming to Europe or moving within Europe. Global Fellowships are based on a secondment to a third country and a mandatory 12 month return period to a European host. Researchers receiving an Individual Fellowship may opt to include a secondment phase in Europe, notably in the non-academic sector, within the overall duration of their fellowship.
- Eligibility: At the time of the relevant deadline for submission of proposals, researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity (work , studies, etc) in the country of their European host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline date.
- Award Duration: 12 – 24 months.
- Funding Available: The EU will pay a defined contribution for the researcher and their associated research expenses (minimum annual salary of €55,800). The host institution receives a set contribution towards overheads.

Marie Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE)
RISE supports short-term mobility of research and innovation staff at all career levels, from the most junior (post-graduate) to the most senior (management), also including administrative and technical staff. It is open to partnerships of universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations both within and beyond Europe. In worldwide partnerships, academia-to-academia exchanges will be permitted.

Eligibility: A RISE partnership must comprise of at least three independent participants in three different countries and must meet one of the following two conditions:
- Two or more organisations in European Member States or Associated States and one or more organisations from a Third Country, regardless of the sector (academic or non-academic) they belong to OR;
- Three or more organisations in European Member States or Associated States which includes at least one from the academic sector and one from the non-academic sector.
- Award Duration: The maximum award duration is 4 years (48 months).
- Funding Available: The EU will pay a defined contribution of €2,000 to support travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for staff members per month of secondment. An additional contribution of €2,500 per month of secondment will be paid to European institutional beneficaries to cover research, training, networking, management and indirect costs.
