‘Industrial needs in the area of materials science for gas turbines and nuclear reactors – from physics based modelling to experimental micromechanics.’
Prof Dave Rugg, Rolls-Royce Senior Fellow – Materials
Abstract
The requirement for mechanistic understanding underpins the ability to design efficient and reliable products through to being able to support in-service problems with the speed and agility. This talk outlines key industrial drivers, highlights some of the current research portfolio and explains the need for academic based research. The length-scales covered span the gap from atoms to engines along with the test and modelling techniques that go with them.
