Masters in Sustainable Crop Production

Omar Dahduli

What attracted you to Warwick?

I was attracted by the forward-thinking aspect of the course where it was looking into the challenges faced by the agricultural sector and practices and interventions needed to produce food sustainably for the future. Also, the reputation of the University of Warwick was a big reason I wanted to work study there.

What was the most valuable part of your experience at Warwick?

The most valuable part of my experience was divided into two main parts. The first being the connections I made with my course-mates and professors, and the second is the opportunities the project gave us to learn about specific areas within the course that we wanted to discover. The project gave us all the resources we needed to enhance our learning in our desired areas.

What did you focus your research project on?

I wanted to learn about glasshouse tomato production in the UK through my project, and that is exactly what my project helped me achieve. I received all the resources needed to enhance my skills in that topic which became valuable during my job hunt for career opportunities within the UK.

What is your current role and how did the course prepare you?

My current role is an Account Manager with the Soil Association Exchange. My course and project helped me gain skills that I am using in my current role linked to research, report writing, and project organisation.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering this course?

I advise prospective students to join this programme and make the best out of the project period to gain skills they need to achieve their career goals. This is a unique opportunity to have a wide range of resources to learn something niche, and it is important to take advantage of the opportunity to grow!
