Student Life

Student Life

Nurture your passion for maths and make friends for life.

More than just lectures

Studying mathematics at Warwick won’t just help deepen your love for the subject; it will give you an experience you’ll never forget. The whole setup of our department – from the way we design our courses and deliver our teaching through to the breakout areas and common spaces dotted around our building – is geared for collaboration.

Life in the Maths Department

The purpose-built Zeeman building is home to the maths department. Most of your first-year lectures will take place here, in our large lecture theatre.

In addition, you will have regular small-group teaching in one of our supervision areas, as well as meetings with your personal tutor in their office. There is also a large undergraduate workroom for independent study and collaborative work.

Student Life beyond Maths

There's lots to see and do both on-campus and off-campus!

The local area boasts great nightlife and is steeped in history, with Coventry, Leamington Spa, and Warwick all on our doorstep. On campus itself we have restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, grocery shops, sports venues, retail stores, and even a nightclub. There are also plenty of green spaces to enjoy.

Connect with our student union to find out what's on.

Mathematics Society

The department has a very active and dynamic undergraduate Mathematics Society.

They organise a weekly Maths Café, a student-led peer support group that offers informal problem-solving sessions and a listening ear. They also organise weekly academic talks and runs social events, such as Circles, Board Games Nights, and much more!

Hear from our students

If you want to find out more about what life as a Warwick maths student is like then why not ask some of our students directly? We have a number of maths students as part of the team of student ambassadors representing Warwick on UniBuddy, and you can use that platform to explore blog content written by them, as well as connect directly for one-to-one conversations about anything and everything to do with studying maths here.
