Zeeman Building accessibility

General accessibility

The main entrance to the Zeeman Building has automatic doors, and students have access to the building from 7am-10pm, seven days a week. The main doors will open when you approach them between 8:30am-5pm from Monday-Thursday, and between 8:30am-4pm on Fridays. Outside of these hours, including on bank holidays and during the Christmas shutdown, you will need your Warwick ID card to open the doors.

There are also automatic doors to enter the Maths Institute near the Taught Programmes Office on the ground floor and another set of automatic doors to enter the Undergraduate Workroom – you will need your ID card to open them.

The main teaching rooms in the Zeeman building are MS.01-05, B3.01-03, A1.01 and B1.01.Any rooms which are centrally timetabled, including most of the above, can be viewed on the IDG website. The floor plan of the Zeeman building can be viewed on the interactive campus mapLink opens in a new window.

  • MS.01 has some desk space without seats on the back row suitable for wheelchairs and some wider moveable desks on the front row. There should also be a height-adjustable desk on the front row, marked as a priority seat for those who need it. Note that only the front row (accessible by the doors on the ground floor) and back row (accessible by the doors on the first floor) have step-free access as this is a tiered lecture theatre.
  • MS.02 has some wider moveable desks on the front row. There should also be a height-adjustable desk on the front row, marked as a priority seat for those who need it. Note that only the front row (accessible by the doors on the ground floor) and back row (accessible by the doors on the first floor) have step-free access as this is a tiered lecture theatre.
  • MS.03, MS.04 and MS.05 have wider desks that can be moved on wheels at one end of the front row. Note that only the front row has step-free access as these are tiered lecture theatres.
  • A1.01, B1.01 and B3.01 are flat rooms with moveable desks and chairs.
  • B3.02 and B3.03 have wider desks that can be moved on wheels on the front row. Note that only the front row has step-free access as these are tiered lecture theatres.

If you have any concerns about the accessibility of any of your teaching rooms, speak to the Taught Programmes Office.

Toilets and lifts

There are accessible toilets throughout Zeeman Building:

  • By the main entrance near MS.01 (accessible via an automatic door)
  • On the first floor, near A1.01
  • On the first floor, near the lift at the far end of ‘The Street’
  • On the second floor, past MS.03 near the lift
  • On the third floor, near B3.01

There are two lifts in the Zeeman Building. One is near the main entrance, on the right-hand side as you go in, and the other is at the far end of ‘The Street’, near the doors to the Institute for Advanced Study (this lift only goes as far as the second floor).

Wellbeing room

There is a wellbeing room at B0.07, on the ground floor of the Zeeman Building. It is designed to be a drop-in quiet space for anyone to use to support their wellbeing and take a break in a relaxing environment. The room has low lighting and comfortable seating, as well as some information on support available at the University and some colouring books and other relaxing activities. Please make use of the feedback box if you have suggestions on how to improve the space.

The wellbeing room is not intended to be used as a study space or a place to take a nap – this prevents students from using it for its intended purpose and could prevent someone in need from having somewhere to go. If you are concerned about misuse of the wellbeing room, please speak to the Taught Programmes Office.
