PDE meets Data: challenges and perspectives in model development and calibration
Scope of the workshop
PDE models are well established in physics and engineering, and more recently in the life and social sciences. Calibrating and validating these models is an essential step when putting them into practice. Traditionally calibration focuses on fitting parameters to a given model without questioning or quantifying their validity. With the increasing amount of data available as well as the development of mathematical techniques in Bayesian inverse problems and data assimilation it is now possible to verify and improve the modelling. This workshop aims to bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers working at the interface of applied PDEs for a wide spectrum of applications.
