Statistics, hyperbolicity and related problems (SHARP)
23-27 March 2026, The University of Warwick
The conference is to celebrate the 60th birthday of Professor Richard Sharp, hence the name - statistics, hyperbolicity and related problems (SHARP)!
Professor Sharp began his association with Warwick in the late 1980s when he came here to complete his postgraduate studies, with an MSc in Mathematics in 1988, and a PhD in Mathematics in 1990. After postdoctoral positions at IHES and Queen Mary, London, and a junior lectureship at Oxford, he was appointed to a lectureship at the University of Manchester in 1995.
He remained in Manchester as lecturer, senior lecturer, reader and then professor until 2012, when he returned to Warwick as a Professor of Mathematics. He has been a key part of the Warwick Mathematics Institute ever since!
The special conference, being held to celebrate Professor Sharp's 60th birthday, will run from Monday 23 - Friday 27 March 2026 in the University of Warwick's Mathematics Department.
Conference registration will open in Autumn 2025.
