Han Yu awarded a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship
Congratulations to Han YuLink opens in a new window, who has been awarded a Leverhulme Early Career FellowshipLink opens in a new window to study Arithmetic Structures of Fractals.
Fractals, such as the middle third Cantor set, the Sierpinski Carpet, and the Mandelbrot set are fundamentally important in branches of pure mathematics such as Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, Number Theory, Geometric Measure Theory, and Probability Theory. Understanding the arithmetic structures in fractals is a difficult problem whose advancements will not only greatly boost pure mathematics research but also have direct applications in practical fields such as Material Science. The fellowship aims to solve challenging conjectures concerning the arithmetic of certain dynamically and arithmetically defined fractals.
