Online course for Warwick Applicants - STEP into University Mathematics
What is STEP into University Mathematics?
STEP into University Mathematics is series of six online sessions, supported by a collection of online resources, which will take place on Saturday mornings between March 2026 and May 2026. The course is open to Warwick mathematics offer holders, whether or not they are taking any STEP examination in summer 2026. You do not have to be taking any STEP examination in summer 2026 to benefit from the course.
The aim of the sessions is to support Warwick applicants:
- to prepare for university-level mathematics
- to prepare for STEP examinations in summer 2026 if they are taking them.
The course is designed to enhance the problem-solving skills of participants and to introduce them to some ideas relevant to university-level mathematics. The course will also support those who are taking STEP examinations in summer 2026, through the detailed discussion of a large number of past paper questions.
The focus of each session is a number of STEP past paper questions. Session leaders will cover relevant background material to the questions and then consider how to tackle them. As well as the solutions themselves, the focus will be on problem-solving techniques and strategies that can be applied more generally. Alongside this there will be emphasis on those aspects of questions which particularly reflect the more rigorous and deep mathematical thinking that is required in the study of university-level mathematics. Questions from all topic area, including Mechanics and Statistics & Probability, will be covered.
