Course & student data

"Moodle inherits its information from the student records system (SITS), this is information
about what programmes and modules are running, which students are enrolled on them, and which staff are leading them. It is therefore "downstream" of SITS, along with other systems supporting teaching delivery timetabling, lecture capture, Tabula and Talis Aspire reading lists. It is increasingly the case that Moodle is surfacing problems with data quality in SITS. Investing in effective use of SITS within departments will result in more efficient delivery support from all these downstream systems. The Course Marketing Act (CMA) emphasises the importance of accurate information about programmes and modules, and with the revised course approvals process, we have an opportunity to optimise the way we do this"

AQSC.03.15-16 October 2015 TEL Steering Annual Report to AQSC

Please note: the availability of the Moodle spaces for each occurence of a module is dependent on the records held in the student records system (SITS).

  • for modules this is based on the module availability records (MAV).
  • for courses this is the course (CRS) records.
