What is Moodle?

About Moodle

Communication

Moodle is one of the main ways we interact and communicate with students. As such, ensuring the information on it is accurate, up to date and useful for students helps present a positive impression of the course as a whole.

VLE or DLE?

Moodle is sometimes referred to as our Virtual or Digital Learning Environment (VLE or DLE). It is used to host learning content, manage assignments, facilitate student interaction, and enable access to third-party applications.

Why the name?

Moodle stands for "Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment." It is used by thousands of educational institutions around the world to provide an organised interface for e-learning, or learning over the Internet. Warwick Medical School have supported students via Moodle since January 2013.

Expectations of student and staff competencies

WMS students and staff are expected to be comfortable with computer basics such as navigating between folders on their computer, connecting to the internet, browsing and interacting with web pages, downloading and uploading files through the web, emails. We strongly encourage all students and staff to develop their confidence with these basic digital capabilities to enable them to become accustomed to commonly used technologies and gain maximum benefit from the resources available.
