Title: A Model of Conspicuous Consumption, Inequality, and Relative Deprivation (CORD)
Abstract: We have developed a model that explores the dynamics of conspicuous consumption and its influence on signaling status at both individual and group levels. Departing from traditional economic models that treat personal consumption as isolated from peer effects, our novel framework integrates identity and relative deprivation into consumer behavior. This model offers a new perspective on understanding how socioeconomic factors are linked with conspicuous consumption.
