Relevant deadlines and information for 2026-27

Initial Route Selection Window: Pre-Arrival -> Friday of Term 1 Week 2

We understand many students may already have an indication of which route on the MSc in Statistics they wish to pursue before they arrive. Students can declare their intended route pre-arrival to the University of Warwick via this form; your transfer will then be processed as soon as you have successfully enrolled on the course.

If you are unsure of which route you wish to pursue prior to arrival, you will have several weeks to make this decision as you adjust to the course and the modules available. We allow students until the end of Week 2 of Term 1 to make this choice.

This date roughly maps to the university's module registration deadlines (Wednesday 09:00 Term 1 Week 0 -> Monday 17:00 Term 1 Week 3), which allows you to get a taster for which modules may interest you before finalising your route.

A member of the Statistics Support Office, the professional services staff who administer your degree, will be present during the Statistics MSc Course Induction in Week 0 and will talk you through the process of selecting a route and deadlines for route transfers throughout the year and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. A reminder to select your route will also be sent via email following this session, with further reminders being sent throughout the year as relevant deadlines approach.

Please submit your chosen route via this form by no later than 17:00 on Friday of Week 2 of Term 1.

For those that do not submit before this deadline, you will remain on the General Route of the MSc in Statistics.

1st Route Transfer Window (with ability to amend module choices): Term 2 Week 1 -> Friday Term 2 Week 2

After being transferred onto your chosen route in Term 1, we offer the opportunity to change your route at the start of term 2.

This 1st Transfer Window takes place immediately prior to and lasts until just after your January examinations. Likewise, the module registration system re-opens at the start of Term 2 (final dates to confirmed via email at the end of Term 1) meaning you will be able make new module changes, following the transfer to a new route.

Transferring to a new route at the start of term 2 is dependent on two main factors:

1) whether you have already sat the January exam for the required core on your route at the point of requesting a transfer and;

2) whether your module registration choices meet route specifications you wish to transfer to as outlined in the course handbook.

Importantly, if you wish to transfer from a route which has a core required January examination, which is not core required on another route, please apply for a transfer, BEFORE, the examination takes place.

Please submit any route transfers during this window to this form by no later than 17:00 on Friday of Week 2 of Term 2.

2nd Route Transfer Window (with NO ability to amend module choices): Term 2 Week 7 onwards.

Following the completion of your January Examinations, the department will review your performance and aims to release your provisional marks back to your during Term 2 Week 7. We may allow course transfers following the release of these provisional results. As the module registration window will be closed at this point, you will not be able to change any module choices at this point, and any transfer would be dependent on your eligibility based on module choices made earlier in the year.

Please note that any transfer past this point may impact the ability of the examinations team to facilitate creating your examination timetable, and a course transfer may be delayed until after the examination period to ensure the accurate construction of your April and Summer examination timetable.
