Individualized predictions of prostate cancer recurrence following radiation therapy
In this talk I will present a joint longitudinal-survival statistical model for the pattern of psa values and clinical recurrence for data from patients following radiation therapy for prostate cancer. A random effects model is used for the longitudinal psa data and a time dependent proportional hazards model is used for clinical recurrence of prostate cancer. The model is implemented on a website, psacalc.sph.umich.edu
, where patients or doctors can enter a series of psa values and obtain a prediction of future disease progression. Details of the model estimation and validation will be described and the website calculator demonstrated.
