Is the brain a Bayesian?

Almost all interesting problems that the brain solves involve probabilities inference; and the brain is clearly astonishingly effective at solving such problems. A substantial movement in cognitive science, neuroscience and artificial intelligence has suggested that the brain may, to some approximation, be a Bayesian. This talk considers in what sense, if any, this might be true; and asks how it might be that a Bayesian brain might, nonetheless, so poor at explicit probabilistic reasoning.
